Advocates of Ozaukee operates an emergency shelter for adults and children seeking a temporary safe haven from situations of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our services include support groups for adults and children, community education, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, independent living services, and 24-hour crisis line and shelter accessibility. Interested volunteers are interviewed and training is provided based on the area of service. We welcome you to join us in this effort!
Volunteer service may be scheduled, on-call, short term or long term. Please let the Volunteer Manager know what fits best with your availability. Advocates does not require it’s volunteers to put in a certain number of hours a week, month or year. Advocates’ volunteers do what they can, when they can. Most of our volunteer opportunities are as needed. A volunteer can make changes to their availability at any time. Examples include vacation, health issues, or other commitments. Volunteers can serve in one area or many.
Volunteer training is done by the Volunteer Manager and will include an overview of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Issues, Boundaries, and information related to the volunteer’s specific area/s of service.
(Donations of services at reduced costs are also appreciated.)
